I am Christiaan Huygens

Host: Christiaan Huygens

Your Host, back in the dayHELLO, My name is Christiaan Huygens and you are reading the first ever blog from the planet, Saturn. The is the companion blog for my podcast SATURNcastthe only blog transmitting from Saturn (to the best of my knowledge).

Some things about me: I am Dutch, I am old and I am brilliant. Do you know that I discovered the origin of the rings of Saturn, that I discovered the Saturn moon Titan, that I played a large role in the development of calculus and that I invented the modern-day wrist watch?

Of course you didn’t — not many people do. It pisses me off.

A few years ago I got so bitter at the world that I found a way to get to Saturn. But while I was smart enough to get to Saturn, I haven’t figured out a way to get back.

So I am stuck. . .

All I have is a computer, the Internet and some microwavable popcorn. It is boring. Saturn is a hot and gassy planet — so I spend most of my days being hot and gassy.

I am bored out of my mind.

So, in an effort to find something to do I decided to start my podcast which will air once a week (when the transmission from Saturn to Earth is available) and to start this daily blog.

I will share with you all of my brilliant thoughts and ideas.

Thank you for joining me. And it you stumble upon a way to get me back to Earth, I could sure use your help.

Yours truly,

Christiaan Huygens
