Jonestown episode was designed to make us think.

Phone call from Rebecca Nay about religion.

I talk about my thoughts about religion — is it safe to go back? Am I making a mistake?

Marina scolds me about being too hard on retail employees.

Eric Luper chimes in about my voice.

I recently went to the Rubin Museum of Art in Manhattan. Where I saw some wonderful and interesting Hindu art.

I want to learn more about Hinduism. If you know something about it let me know.

Are museums wrong to keep artifacts that were stolen?

SATURNcast: The Jonestown Massacre

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

Listen here.

Today I discuss Jim Jones and the People’s Temple.

Jones, who started as a preacher became more and more insane and paranoid — eventually leaving the United States with his followers and starting Jonestown.

Many people living in Jonestown felt trapped and held hostage. When Congressman Leo Ryan flew to Jonestown to investigate he was shot dead.

Jim Jones, in the height of paranoia, convinces hundreds of his followers to kill themselves on Kool-Aid laced with cyanide.

I play the recording of the final 25 minutes where Jim Jones convinces his flock that the time is now to kill themselves.

I think you will be shocked at how little emotion or protest there actually is.

Listen here.

Today I talk about anti-depressants. Do they hurt or help people? Do doctors give them to too many people?

What are your thoughts?

I rage about how Wal-Mart uses the U.S. flag a propaganda. Why do only right wing groups use the flag? It is time for the left wing to take it back.
