SATURNcast has a new phone number!

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

Tragically, my old and trusty SATURNcast voiceline is no more.

(take this time to mourn)

Now that the mourning is over, I have a new voicemail number!

206-350-0232

Let’s welcome this new voicemail number by leaving a comment on it.

If you do, you will be on the SATURNcast.

How cool is that?

Fine.

You do not write comments anymore.

You do not call.

And I can just give up ever thinking you will send me flowers.

What’s up with that?

Pressure

Listen here.

V For Vendetta is an awsome book and movie.

An ode to the wristwatch. . .

Lawerence from South Africa calls the SATURNcast!  I am very honored.

You too can call the SATURNcast at 206-338-2154

Andy Melton designs a fantastic new look for the SATURNdiary.

Brittany Spears reminds me of my time in rehab — which I recount for all of you today.  It was a very scary time in my life.

Please send the Bean and I some positive mo-jo.  We are very close to adopting two little girls.

I love all of you.  Christiaan Huygens has the best listeners on Earth.

ticket for depression

Listen here

a word of warning. . .

I am depressed today, and thus, so is the show. . .

I start the show with a happy announcement from the Bean

I Hate Sundays.  Hate.

I applaud Jen and Bob from the Pizzababe Goes Global podcast and Tigger from the Tiggercast for their strong words against homophobia and Tim Hardaway.

Homophobia and bigotry affects us all.

Why are we so cruel to each other?

I discuss irony and Madge Weinstein.

I feel sorry for Brittany Spears and Anna Nicole Smith

I am a sad sack today.

I promise to be happy next time. . .

Overachiever

Listen here.

The show starts with a wonderful message from the lovely Cheryl Merkowski.

Guess the mystery speaker slamming Franklin Roosevelt and win a SATURNcast T-shirt!

I hate Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day etc. They are all made up holidays to give the card companies money. You should express your love because you love someone, not because society tells you too!!!

Remember when I talked about being addicted to a person? Well, NASA astronaut Lisa Nowak proves my theory. She threw away her entire life due to her addiction to a person.

She was also an overachiever — which can lead to real problems.

Trent Reznor is GOD.

I give you all a little history lesson on the Kennedy family. JFK had many faults, but I still like him.

Listen to the Mysterious Universe podcast.

I enjoyed my Skype call with Andy Melton, Dace, and Zillafag.

Zilla takes my side against the evil Bean. (finally, someone. . .)

SATURNCAST: Rings of Saturn #26

Be Thankful

Listen here.

Today’s show is about the important need to stay positive and grateful for life — even when I want to feel sorry for myself.

We start the show with the latest installment of ANDY MELTON IN SPACE.

I play an audio clip from Tigger.

Special Delivery Mark does his best podcast ever.

Sir (cough) Issac Newton who “invented” gravity is an attention whore.

I invented the wristwastch. (where’s the thank you?)

I talk about my terrible habit of being nervous, cynical and sarcastic. I always look at life as “glass half empty”.

I used alcohol as a crutch. (What’s your crutch?)
I learned that I need to try and stay positive and be grateful for what I have in life in order to stay healthy.

It is the small things in life that will kill you.

I wished I followed my own advice. . .

Shout-outs

PizzaBabe and Bob

ZILLA

AJ

NiiceLady

The Gay Expat

AND DON’T FORGET NIK IN PARIS!!!

I end the show with a few poems from my favorite poet — Charles Bukowski.

Go Daddy asks me: What’s a Podcast?

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

Go DaddyEverything seems to be going wrong this month. My latest cross to bear is the fact that my podcast hosting provider at GO DADDY has been down for over a week.

I simply can not upload my podcasts. It will not let me.

I have called them several times. Each time they tell me they know there is a problem with their podcast hosting, that they do not know what is wrong and have no idea when it will be fixed.

At first I was really nice about it. Because, you know, mistakes and problems happen. But as each day went by and I was unable to upload my podcasts, I became increasingly angry toward Go Daddy’s cavalier attitude about it.

I explained to them that it was very important that I get my podcasts out in a timely fashion. They could have cared less.

So by Friday night I had enough of it and I called up very stern and cross. I was demanding satisfaction. So they spent THREE HOURS with me on the phone figuring out a way for me to give them my podcast file (Rings of Saturn #24) in order for them to manually put the file on my site.

I go to bed Friday night assuming my podcast would be up on my site soon.

Nope.

I call Saturday, livid. They tell me it would take up to 72 hours to put the podcast on my site and no idea how long it would take to fix the original upload problem.

I demanded to speak to a supervisor. I slowly work my way up the chain of command until such time as I am speaking to someone at Go Daddy with a position of authority.

I am pissed — and it shows.

He asks why I am uploading such a “large” file to begin with — 24MBs.

I say it is a podcast file.

He asks me: WHAT’S A PODCAST?

It was at this point that I knew I was doomed. Sunk.

I have one more weapon in my arsenal. And it is equal to dropping a nuclear bomb.

I did not want it to come to this.

I really did not.

I unleash The Bean on them.

Next thing I know, I am refunded all of my money I have spent with Go Daddy related to podcasting — so I am now hosting (if it ever works again) for free. (And I tip my hat to Go Daddy for that. But I do spend A LOT of money with them on various things)
My show is put on my site (But that show was done a week ago, so I am now a week behind)

And a promise that the problem will be fixed by Monday (we will see about that)

So for now, if you are hearing Rings of Saturn #24 or #25 you are in select company. I am using my spare libsyn account to host them and slapping them up to my site. My main RSS feed is the Go Daddy one — so people who rely on that RSS feed to find out when the latest installment of SATURNcast is up will never know there is a new podcast unless they make their way over to the SATURNdiary.

This bothers me. Being a genius also makes me anal-retentive.

I wonder if Adam Curry knows Go Daddy is unaware what a podcast is. . .
